Advantages Of Our Science Lesson Plans

Many things make our science lesson plans unique and strong. For example, every one of our science lesson plans have been used for at least two years in a real classroom (and most have been "simmering" longer than that). So you know they’re more than just great-sounding ideas. You’re getting science lesson plans that have actually worked, and that flow from beginning to end. You’re also getting a thorough set of teacher notes with each science lesson plan that reflects what actually happened, and not what we hope or think will. In other words, our science lesson plans have actual classroom experience, and that is a valuable thing.

Science Lesson Plans That Let Go

To your great relief, none of our science lesson plans will ask you to do everything for every student. In fact, you’ll notice a complete shift of who does what in our science lesson plans. Students, and not you, are the ones doing things. Your job is to stand back and make sure people do what they're supposed to do, and outcomes are what they’re supposed to be. Then you move in with dialogue when they’re minds are primed and ready. This method may be uncomfortable for you at first. But the rewards are worth it.

In our science lesson plans we reverse traditional thinking. By handing over the best part of the lesson to students- the demonstration- you are showing trust. Most students will respond to this by rewarding you (and themselves) with a higher level of maturity, and now everyone’s winning. In our science lesson plans your role is to give students enough clear instruction so they know what to do. But always leave some “play” room that they can use to discover things for themselves. And having come upon something amazing with their own hands, they will naturally go further and manipulate variables, enriching the discussion even more. Now that is real science.

Science Lesson Plan Priorities

We want you to know that every one of our science lesson plans is based on actual events written by the science teacher who performed the science lesson plans, and was recorded the same night it was taught so the details would be preserved. That’s why the “voice” in the science lesson plan seems so real, like it actually did what it’s describing. It wasn’t always convenient to do it this way, but our standard is excellence and we feel we couldn’t give you an excellent product any other way.

We hope you don’t mind, but to keep the science lesson plans from becoming overly-complicated, we chose not to pass them through an English department for a grammar check. Nor were they sent to the local university to be corrected. While we hope there are no mistakes in our science lesson plans, that’s still not our main concern. All we care is that our science lesson plans actually work in the classroom. Some teacher guides are so sophisticated and overdone that you have trouble making sense of them, and a perfectly good science lesson plan can be lost when it’s “over-decorated”. We just wanted ours to be clear, and good enough to be taught “right off the page”.
