Want your students to have a more meaningful lab experience? Try this:
- First, give them 2-3 minutes to read through the lab and say you’ll be calling on a random person to tell you what the first thing they’ll do is
- Next, call on that random student; if they’re correct, have someone else tell you the next thing
- Continue doing this as long as you like
- NOW you can allow them to do the lab
Result- less chaos and more meaning. Doing this certainly won’t solve every problem, but it helps.
